I went to the bathroom in a bar and ended up back home for about a year, which was just almost two weeks here.

What made you realize that door's different any other door?

It wasn't different. I've seen that door so many times and it never looked any different. That's how it works here. The exit isn't in flashing lights. It's just there and you won't know it until you walk through and of course, if and when you do come back, it's no longer there. The exit is never in the same place twice.

All of this is just a waiting game. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's the truth.

How long do folks usually stay? Months? Years?

Some people are here for years, some for only a few days. There's no one solid pattern. At least not one somebody has figured out yet.

What d'you mean years? Three? Five? Long enough to call yourself a citizen?

For some, yes. I've been here for a year and a half. That's almost the longest I've even been in one place.

Not really. I just move around a lot. Not as much as I used to, obviously.
